Hardtop Style
It’s hard to improve upon the already amazing lines of an E31 8 Series, but the factory CSi body kit that was added and color-matched to the original Oxford Green Metallic (324) paint dials the stance factor to 11.
Overall, the exterior condition looks excellent, benefitting from a lifetime in California and Florida, and never seeing snow or ice.
The front end, including the nose, hood, headlight doors, and bumper cover, were refreshed in Oxford Green Metallic under current ownership to correct chips and stains incurred during regular driving. Otherwise, there is no history of bodywork and no rust present per the owner.
Features include chrome kidney surrounds, pop-up headlights shown operating, integrated fog lamps, a sunroof, subtle pinstripes, rear decklid spoiler, and dual square twin-tip exhaust outlets.
Aftermarket additions include front grille slats painted in the M colors of blue, violet, and red, a small M badge on the front air dam, and a pair of V12 emblems on both front fenders.
A set of staggered 18” BMW Style 32 polished wheels are fitted and look to be very clean all around. They are mounted in General G-Max rubber sized 285/35 up front and 245/40 out back, the latter of which show 2021 date codes.
Undercarriage condition is well documented and notes in the gallery show the cosmoline was retained to preserve the chassis. Overall, it looks quite good as do the brakes and suspension components.
Executive Class
Inside, all four seats are upholstered in Light Silver Gray Nappa leather with heat and power adjustment up front. The driver’s seat, which includes memory settings, looks to have relatively light wear considering the age and mileage, while the front passenger and dual rear seats look to be in very good condition.
The two-tone dark and light gray dashboard has an 850Ci-branded protection mat and is joined by door panels with a matching design. They feature leather inserts and present very well in the gallery.
The color extends to the carpet and BMW floor mats, which are in equally top condition. The color-matching headliner was installed within the past six months and shows a tight fit.
A gray perforated leather cover wraps the four-spoke steering wheel that frames a set of analog instrumentation. It includes a 7,000-rpm tachometer, 190-mph speedometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 105,461 miles.
Wood trim on the center stack and console shows very well, as do the rest of the cabin surfaces. HVAC vents are highlighted with a small crack on the central set, one of the few flaws on this car.
Features include a power-operated sunroof, power accessories, digital readout for ambient temperature and clock, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The onboard computer and AM/FM stereo with CD player are all shown operating in the gallery.
Other notable areas include the door frames and sills that are in very good shape, the factory first aid kit, and a clean, carpeted trunk. The latter contains the battery, six-disc CD changer, drop-down toolkit, and original underfloor spare. As seen in the gallery, the body condition beneath the spare is excellent.
Meticulously Maintained
Mounted in a pristine engine bay is the original 5.4L M73 V12, not to be confused with the earlier M70 version. This more advanced powerplant was rated for 322 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque when new. It pairs with a five-speed Steptronic automatic – with manual mode – to spin the rear wheels and features painted valve covers and intake runners.
Upon purchase 17 years ago, the current owner had a complete pre-purchase inspection performed by Concord BMW in California, where the car was originally sold, and received a Carfax report and copies of maintenance records from day one.
Since then, this 1995 850Ci has been maintained in like-new condition, with a host of preventative services performed to keep it that way. The following work has been completed within the past six months:
- Engine oil and filter change
- Flushed and replaced coolant
- New spark plugs installed
- Replacement of air and cabin filters
- Installation of new fuel pump
- Mass Air Flow sensor cleaning
Per the owner, there are no know issues with the car, and a current Carfax report will accompany the sale.
1 of 363
Located in Winter Park, Florida, this 1995 BMW 850Ci has been under current ownership for the past 17 years, during which 50,000 of the original 105,601 miles have been added. The current owner purchased the car from the second owner, who had purchased it from the original dealership – Concord BMW, in California.
The current owner is a longtime BMW Car Club of America member who has registered this E31 with the BMW 8 Series Owners registry. He notes it is a solid #2 quality coupe that is well-known in the Southeast thanks to being regularly displayed at enthusiast events. The manufacturer’s literature and the owner’s manual will accompany the sale.
This largely original and award-winning 850Ci is one of just 363 ever made for the North American market. Given the exacting level of care, it has received from its current long-term owner; you can be sure this striking Oxford Green coupe will stand out wherever it goes.
