History
The Figaro was introduced in 1989 at the Tokyo Motor Show and was based on the original Nissan Micra. Built at what was known as the Pike Factory by a team of special engineers, it was powered by a 1.0L turbocharged engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission with front wheel drive. Initially 8,000 were planned, but due to demand, another 12,000 were added and each was sold through a lottery system. Well equipped, they featured air conditioning, a CD player, a tape player, chrome and Bakelite-style knobs, soft-feel paint atop the dashboard, specialized gauges, and unique colors representing the seasons. Emerald Green was for spring, Pale Aqua was for summer, Lapis Grey was a winter hue, and Topaz Mist was the autumn color. This example is finished in Pale Aqua and features the cup holders and passenger-side baskets, indicating it is the limited-edition model. Each example was built with right-hand drive and this one although located in California, hails from Japan. Believed to be all original, only a catalytic converter was installed to comply with California emissions standards. The seller says everything works fine and the car needs nothing. No service records prior to April of 2020 when they acquired it.
