History
Introduced in 1982, the Mercedes 190 Series was the recipient of over $600 million in research and development dollars – four decades ago. That led to a wind-cheating profile courtesy of Bruno Sacco’s careful hand and a host of new technologies for the brand.
From the five-link rear suspension to the airbags and anti-lock braking system, the new 190 was a relative tour de force of technology. Known internally as the W201, these cars would go on to set all manner of endurance records and lead to the modern C-Class.
