Captivating Cruiser with Excellent and Festive Colors
Eye-catching in Red and White two-tone paint with a White power convertible top, this Sunliner is enhanced by very good factory Gold anodized trim and brightwork. A period style “Continental” spare-tire kit enhances the Fairlane’s proportions and presence, along with a mix of Thunderbird-type Kelsey-Hayes chrome wire-spoke wheels up front and steel sheels with full bright factory hubcaps at the rear, with 1950s-style wide Whitewall tires all around.
Handsome, Comfortable and Well Equipped
Matching the exterior color scheme, the two-tine interior is well presented and well preserved since the Sunliner was restored. Interior trim and appointments all appear correct and complete, as per factory specifications. A heater, AM radio, dash-mounted clock and power top switch are all present, along with an unmodified factory dash, instruments, and column-mounted automatic shift lever.
Healthy D-Code 312 CI V-8 Power
Ford’s robust D-Code 312 cubic inch “Y-Block” V-8 engine delivers a factory-rated 245 horsepower with a 4-barrel carburetor. The engine was rebuilt and it the surrounding engine compartment both feature correct colors and components, including factory type finned aluminum rocker covers and an open-element air cleaner providing a more unrestricted airflow than the factory-original setup. A Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission and original 9-inch Ford rear end deliver the abundant power and torque to the road. Power steering and power-assisted brakes provide a nicely relaxed driving experience.
Solid, sound, and offered in excellent, collector-worthy condition with excellent colors, this well restored and maintained 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner Convertible marks one of the best-selling model lines of the 1950s. In fact, the high-level Fairlane 500 and Sunliner were instrumental in helping Ford Motor Company outsell arch-rival Chevrolet in 1957. This example offers you the opportunity to take a virtual trip back to the ’50s, preferably along your favorite stretch of open road with the top down!
