Chevy's First Truly Modern Pickup Design
As already mentioned, the Chevy retains its stock and exceptionally straight original body with a Stepside cargo box. Emberglow metallic paint is show-quality and looks great with no flaws noted upon inspection. Gleaming chrome bumpers, the egg-crate chrome grille, OEM side spears, and original front “Bowtie” trim all looks great. Twin tail lamps enhance visibility on the road and a fixed, body-color steel sun visor provides a great 1950s style finishing touch.
Luxurious, Inviting, and Tastefully Updated Inside
The pickup’s cab has been fully restored and retrimmed consistent with the rest of the vehicle. Featuring an eye-catching two-tone color scheme, with the interior painted Emberglow, the door panels in Emberglow and Ivory, and the dash in Ivory. Residing within a chrome bezel, the factory-style speedometer/instrument cluster is fully restored and calibrated in Metric units for speed and distance and it also contains an 8,000 rpm tachometer. A luxurious modern bench seat is trimmed in Light Brown and Tan upholstery and a fold-down central armrest enhances comfort on the road. Folding the seatback forward reveals a high-end audio system with a Custom Autosound electronic head unit with discreet ‘50s-style looks, AUX input, HERTZ amplifier and JL Audio speakers. Brown carpeting and floor mats finish the interior off nicely. A custom steering wheel greets the driver and the horn button needs to be mounted; otherwise, the interior looks fabulous and inviting.
Fully Modern Mechanicals
The pickup stays true to its heritage with a fuel injected LS1 5.7L V-8 engine supplied by Street & Performance of Mena, Arkansas. sending 345 rated horsepower to the road through a GM overdrive automatic transmission and Ford 9-inch rear end. A custom serpentine belt drive system features polished components including the aluminum A/C compressor and power steering pump. Short-tube headers send spent combustion gases to a full-length 2.5-inch polished stainless-steel dual exhaust system including great-sounding Flowmaster mufflers. Other highlights include an open-element air cleaner, Corvette body-color engine covers, and an aluminum radiator. The Chevy’s chassis is fully upgraded for modern handling and driving characteristics, including rack-and-pinion steering gear, independent front suspension with tubular A-arms and coil springs, and 4-link rear suspension. Updated front disc/rear drum brakes deliver stopping power.
High-Quality Build With Outstanding Classic Presence
The cargo bed has been fully restored, with rich wood flooring planks. The tailgate retaining chains are fully covered in clear plastic tubing to protect the pickup’s paint finish. A user’s manual for the Custom Autosound stereo head unit is included. Rolling stock includes a set of 20-inch Foose custom wheels mounting wide, low-profile performance radial tires.
