Customized to the Next Level
A standout with its classic presence and Yellow paint finish, this 1935 Ford Custom Pickup maintains its renowned basic design cues with a host of subtle and extremely well-executed refinements for an especially clean look. Beginning with deleted bumpers and shaved of bright trim, the pickup features all-steel running boards flowing seamlessly from the pontoon-style front fenders to the flowing, full-length rear fenders. Streamlined factory bullet-type headlamps remain, while the fine-element radiator grille is now body-color. The normally exposed door hinges were repositioned inside the vehicle and doors operate via electronic poppers with a remote key fob. The cargo box, tailgate, and rear valance are all fully smoothed, continuing the fine details, planning, and execution that went into the build. Airfoil-style horizontal taillamps make this custom pickup unforgettable as it passes by. Polished aluminum custom wheels sport a unique design and mount modern radial tires. Topping it all off is a custom Yellow paint finish, with the monochrome theme nicely punctuated by Orange flames flowing from the clean side vents at each side of the engine compartment.
Updated to Enjoy
Featuring a bench seat with folding seatbacks and a central armrest, the interior is trimmed in durable Burgundy cloth upholstery with pleated seating surfaces and matching door panels with arm rests. A matching headliner completes the clean and inviting custom upholstery. A polished aluminum housing mounts the pickups’s modern JVC CD stereo head unit out of the way on the cab ceiling. The driver is greeted by a clean machined billet aluminum instrument housing that looks right at home on the pickup’s dash. The quality VDO speedometer is calibrated in MPH and an LCD display registers under 12,600 miles of use since the restoration/build of the pickup at the time of writing. A billet custom sheeting wheel, tilt steering column, under-dash tachometer, and bold competition-style B&M ratchet shifter and Maroon floor mats round out the interior.
Totally Updated for Modern Cruising with Show Quality
Inside the smoothed, body-color engine bay resides a proven 350 cubic-inch GM small-block V-8 engine, replete with a polished open-element air cleaner, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, polished ‘air gap’ aluminum intake manifold, and far too many polished and plated accessories and goodies to fully mention here. A custom stainless steel radiator provides cool running, MSD electronic ignition delivers the spark, and a set of ceramic-coated headers feeds the pickup’s great-sounding dual exhaust system. Delivering the power is an overdrive automatic transmission.
Handsomely finished, furniture-quality wood planks line the cargo bed and incorporate the fuel filler at the left rear quadrant. While built to show, the pickup has seen some appropriate road use of only an approximate 12,600 miles and the chassis and suspension were built to deliver a comfortable driving and passenger experience. Independent front suspension and a well-located rear axle with leaf springs, plus front disc and rear drum brakes round out the mechanicals. Sleek and smooth, with a tasteful and total custom build maintaining the pickups’ fabulous original design cues, this 1935 Ford Custom Pickup will deliver a fabulous experience, being equally ready for showing and touring with pleasure with all the work already done.
While it is indeed difficult to improve upon the original 1935 Ford design, the builder of this outstanding custom certainly did so!
